BTC: Crypto arrives on eBay, Bitcoin in sight

 Major e-commerce marketplace eBay may soon integrate cryptocurrency payments according to CEO Jamie Iannone.

The firm is one of the oldest e-commerce hubs, and is now looking to become the go-to platform for Gen Z and Millennials.

The CEO said that the company has been looking to integrate crypto payment options for some time and that an official announcement could be made during the next Investor Day on March 10.

Iannone revealed that the e-commerce giant is looking to transition to new payment methods as it already handles $85 billion in volume on its platform directly.

The CEO said the company changed its policies last year to make the e-commerce platform a place to buy and sell anything, whether it's physical merchandise or digital.

The rise in popularity and demand for cryptocurrencies has prompted several online platforms to add suitable payment options. However, this won't be the company's first attempt, eBay first tried to integrate BTC payments in 2014.

eBay was also exploring Bitcoin payments integration last year, as well as NFT exchanges. The crypto payments integration plan now appears to be almost finalized as crypto has become mainstream and more acceptable among the masses.
