The metaverse of Meta sees its size tenfold in 3
months
Horizon Worlds, one of Meta's (NASDAQ:FB) flagship apps, has reached a monthly base of 300,000 users on its platform. Company executives announced the milestone during a virtual update last week. The company also recently announced that more than 10,000 worlds have been created on its platform, a sign of the growth the tool has seen since its launch in December.
Horizon Worlds follows the metaverse push
Meta's interest seems to be growing in the virtual reality world. The information was shared by Chris Cox, the company's chief executive, during a virtual meeting last week. The executive also said it was a tenfold increase in users in just three months.
The app was recently featured in the Super Bowl ad for Meta's Quest 2, which may have contributed to its newfound popularity alongside the rise of the metaverse as a new technology.
Horizon Worlds expansion plans
While the company is pleased with this achievement, the growth of the tool is closely linked to the availability of VR headsets for users. Indeed, the application is only available for users of these helmets, capable of discovering the worlds in an immersive way. However, interest in applying metaverses seems to be growing.
The company plans to continue to expand its user base by allowing more of them to enter the world, despite the lack of virtual reality tools to fully experience it. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, announced plans to offer a mobile version of the app to "bring early metaverse experiences to more surfaces beyond VR."
